I know, Simplifying Scrapbooking is an oxymoron.

As the comedian Judy Tenuta says "It could happen!"

Ok, instead of attempting to capture your families entire lives or a particular year, work just one event over the years.

For instance, The Birthday Book.

Birthday parties give a fantastic snapshot of what is going on in a child's life.

Birthday party pictures have:

Age - and what they looked like then
Friends - you always invite their best buddies at that time
Interests - we all go the extra mile for the "themes", perfect for scrapbooking
Love - look how much love and effort we put into these parties, our children will want to know that when they are older
Family - see what great grandma looked like, at your birthday party

Don't forget to journal, even with poor hand writing, our children, as adults, will love that piece even more than the cute velum quotes that look so perfect.

Advantage: You only have one page per child to keep up with each year. Ahhh, breathe deep, low stress is good.

I read about the I can make that party from Just A Girl . What a great blog party! I'm a huge fan of "knock - off" items; and I totally love getting and giving "made with love" gifts.
My thoughts kept coming back to "I can contribute something". How about cloth napkins? You can do co-ordinating fabric to your dishes and such, or fun and funky ones.

OK, truth be told, I've been wanting to do this for a long time and well, we were out of napkins at the house, so it just fit.

Your Style Cloth Napkins

Grab some material; you know you have some from past projects just waiting to be used.
You'll need 17" x 17" square for each napkin.

Start fraying the edges to give it that finished look. Of course you could hem the edges by sewing, or maybe even adding ribbon. Fraying the material was very gratifying; very "stress relieving".

I liked using co-ordinating material, but you could use all the same pattern. I was even thinking of doing some holiday patterns; or maybe some superman ones for the boys.

I believe I'll keep this set for me, but I'll be making more for gifts.

Watching Beth Moore on internet

I have really enjoyed working again, but one thing that I miss is my Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group and the studies that we did. What a great group of women that don't even realize was great inspiration they are to others. You are probably a person that is watched and modeled too. I think as Mom's and women gather, we gain more from each other than can be explained.

Ok, on that note, I wanted to share with you this site that shows clips of Beth Moore in little 15 minutes segments. I have really been impressed with the wisdom and depth that she can share in just 15 minutes.

Well, being in the computer field, I should have a blog by now, but I have never felt the great urge to share. My sister is a blog pro, so I thought I'd go ahead and see if I could find blogging fulfilling and whether it could be useful. (Can't tell I see things black and white, can you?)

I was also inspired by www.ninetynineballoons.com . Oh my, what a story. If you haven't heard it yet, check it out. It is about a family who has an amazing faith in God and might feel a little like Job. The YouTube video is amazing too. You could search for 99 and Eliot. The story has a happy ending; God is good, the family has had a baby in October of 2008. I heard it was also an Oprah show segment, so it may be familiar to you.

Ben, my sweet, sweet, lovable husband, won't be thrilled that I have found another hobby that would take time away from all the other hobbies. Is it just my husband, or is yours confused that you sew, but don't hem his pants, or that you bake for that ill family down the street, but he can't get a home baked cookie but once a year, or that you knit prayer shawls and can't finish his vest from 2 years ago, or (one more) that you belong to 2 book clubs, but won't read the information sent in the mail about changing insurance? I've got a long way to go to being a great wife (and mother), but I'm working on it. I'll let you know how it's going....
